REACH THE BEACH: Voted best ride of 2007 by Competitor NW Magazine!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE - NOT EVERYONE RIDES! If you like riding your bike, sign up as a RIDER and reach the beach on your bicycle. If you aren't a bike rider, sign up as a 'Dreamer' and dream of the beach with us. With both options, you'll have your own personal online fundraising page where you can raise funds to fight lung disease and promote clean air in Oregon through education, advocacy, and research. The proceeds from Reach the Beach will ensure a future with clean air, healthy lungs, and smoke-free workplaces.
ABOUT THE RIDE Reach the Beach is widely acknowledged as the official start of the Oregon cycling season. Four different route options make sure that the event is perfect for everyone. Characterized by Oregon's stunningly varied landscape, the rides proceed from rolling wine country fields, through tiny towns, to the pounding surf and soaring dunes of Cape Kiwanda.
Full support includes:
- Continental breakfast
- Two lunch stops
- Rest stops at least every 15 miles
- A gourmet finish line dinner + beach party
- Medical and mechanical support on course
- Baggage transfers
- Hot showers and massage available
- Extra friendly, supportive volunteers
- Support vehicles to pick you up on course
- Finish line at the award-winning Pelican Pub
- Everyone's favorite: fickle weather
- And of course, a great cause
ABOUT THE CAUSE Reach the Beach was started in 1990 and is one of Oregon's most popular cycling events. Proceeds from your entry fee and fundraising support the American Lung Association in Oregon's mission to prevent and cure lung disease and promote lung health.
ABOUT THE ROUTES Couch potatoes, weekend warriors, and seasoned cyclists alike will enjoy one of four different routes through Oregon's wine country, forests, and little known towns. All routes end at Cape Kiwanda in beautiful Pacific City at the Oregon Coast.

AMAZING PRIZES AND REWARDS As if the picturesque journey, beach party and delicious food at every step of the way were not enough, we also have great incentives to encourage you to raise financial support for the ALAO. You'll find list of fundraising prizes under the PRIZES link on the left. Our online tools make it fun and easy to quickly raise the funds needed to qualify for prizes.
TRAINING RIDES We offer free trainings rides. See details here.
REGISTRATION In January you will be able to register online through this website or download a registration form to mail in. Be sure to review our event schedule for the various registration cut off dates. And remember, if you or someone you know isn't too sure about all that bike riding, you can join us through Dream of the Beach, an opportunity to fundraise and support the ride without ever hopping on a bike. If this sounds like the best option for you or someone you know, choose the 'Dreamer' option in registration.
DONATION COLLECTION FORM Click here to download a Donation Collection Form to help keep track of your fundraising. Make a copy of it and turn it in with the donations you have collected (remember, all donations are tax deductable).
